HAZRED is an EU Life-Environment project
HAZRED was a three-year European project co-funded by the EU Life Environment programme, which aimed to help small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) prevent and reduce their production of hazardous wastes, saving them money in the process.
The project ran between December 2004 and November 2007. The project team, which comprised sector and environmental experts, worked with six key industry sectors to set hazardous waste reduction targets and develop waste reduction plans to demonstrate the benefits of a sector-led approach and inform the practices of other EU member states.
The Environment Agency led the HAZRED project in partnership with the Scottish Environment Protection Agency, the Irish Environmental Protection Agency, the Welsh Assembly Government, Envirowise, Groundwork, Safety-Kleen, and the Waste Recycling Group.
