Sector prioritisation workshop (March 2005)

Key representatives from industry, trade associations and environmental organisations attended a workshop with the project partners in London to help identify six priority industry sectors to participate in the HAZRED project.

Priority sectors announced (May 2005)

The six priority sectors were announced and work to develop reduction plans for each sector commenced.

Sector specialists recruited (Summer 2005)

The project recruited sector specialists to assist in developing sector reduction plans.

Launch Event (June 2005)

An event to officially launch the HAZRED project was held in London for key stakeholders on Thursday 30th June 2005.


Sector Launches (January â€" March 2006)

A number of workshops were held to demonstrate how the project will work within individual sectors and to recruit interested SMEs to take part.

Specialist Advisors Recruited (Summer 2006)

Industry sector specialists were recruited to deliver the on-site training.


Site Visits (November 2006 - September 2007)

Advisers are conducting on-site visits with participating SMEs and delivering training in implementing the waste reduction programme. From this point hazardous waste output and cost savings will be monitored and evaluated.

Evaluation of outcomes (September 2007)

Follow-up visits to participating businesses will be completed and outcomes and learnings for each sector summarised.

Dissemination of Findings (Autumn 2007)

The results of the project will be published, a report summarising outcomes and methodology produced and findings disseminated across the EU. An on-line database of best practice will be made available on completion of the project.
